Eye on the Ball: 3 Attacking Signings Worth Looking Out For

New signings always seem to be unknown quantities to us draft fantasy football managers who watch every Premier League match but don’t dare venture into the events on the continent. Today I will be your guide to the potential new forwards who look set to light up the Premier league, and more importantly make an impact on our draft fantasy football leagues. I present to you two forwards who are must haves in your team and one wildcard who could be an astute pick. Alvaro Morata I am sure you are all sick of hearing the name Alvaro Morata....

Rank Holiday

It’s not even July and I’m sure that we’ve already had our fill of Spanish tax fraud controversies and phantom transfer links.  The Draft Fantasy footballer craves something a bit more tangible–rankings! Without further ado, I offer that very tonic: a bold projection of the top five Draft Fantasy producers at each position for the upcoming season.  Discuss, disagree, disparage.  I, in the meantime, throw out a disclaimer–these are subject to adjustment once the real Premier League TV money starts flying around! FORWARDS 5. Jamie Vardy With the impossible championship dream and subsequent European adventure a distant but pleasant memory,...

Just Dropped In (To See What Position My Position Was In)

Three Forwards (F), five Midfielders (M), five Defenders (D), and two Goalkeepers (G). Let’s help you get these positions in the best order. Last year in my small, five-team fantasy football league: 1. F 2. M 3. M 4. M 5. M 6. G 7. D 8. D 9. D 10. F 11. F 12. M 13. D 14. D 15. G First, a few notes on fantasy league size: the number of teams in your league will certainly impact your strategy, but my strategy across the board is to establish a core group of players spread across multiple...

If You Get a Chance to Sit It Out, Or Draft… I Hope You Draft

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder for Draft Fantasy Football. I haven’t, for what it’s worth. And in this part of my draft preparation series, I’m going to focus on when to draft and how to leverage the timing to your fullest advantage. This should also serve as a gentle reminder that the 2017/2018 season kicks off on August 12th, so invite your friends and get the band back together. That is, of course, if you want the classical draft option before the season starts. Before August 12th, everyone has the same player pool to choose...

It Takes Two to Make a Thing Go Right

Last week we talked about how you can spread out your draft fantasy football picks across the different positions to establish a core of players. Now let’s make your draft out of sight. Continuing our draft preparations, I’d like to talk about the importance of flexibility and the benefits of rostering two players per EPL team instead of the maximum allowed of three. At the risk of stating the obvious, you want as many undroppable superstars on your team as you can muster. But it’s just not possible to have 15 of these in your squad, so make the...

The ‘Alternates’ for Draft Fantasy 2017 – 2018

Following on from the article ‘The Must Haves for Draft Fantasy 2017-18,’ today we take a look at the group of players I like to call, ‘The Alternates.’ Let me set the scene. You’ve made your draft list with all the usual suspects; Kane, Sanchez, Hazard etc…That was the easy part. Now comes the real challenge… the alternates. These are the differentials, the maybes, the ‘Do I want him, well maybe, wait I’m not sure. Aaaaah what do I do?!’ See More: Bournemouth FPL Draft Overview Those players that might not be on every fantasy football manager’s list, but...

Who is Hot and Who is Not: Draft Fantasy 2017 -2018

Hot or Not – Draft Fantasy Football In this week’s post we cover players who we think are standout picks for the upcoming Draft Fantasy season and those who are likely to flop this season. With Manchester City completing their signings early this summer, Guardiola has shown his intent. With a couple of full backs added to their squad they will be strong title contenders. Neighbors Manchester United still struggle to complete signings, apart from the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica Title holders Chelsea seem to be strong favorites to retain the trophy. However, with transfer talks over...

Mohamed Salah – The One Who Almost Got Away

Just when everyone thought Liverpool needed to tighten their defense, with their entire backline albeit Joel Matip needing an upgrade, they go and sign a forward and a winger. Well done Kloppo!! But consider this, Liverpool scored the least number of goals (21) amongst last season’s top 4 Premier League clubs after 60 minutes. Chelsea, Spurs and City scored 36, 32 and 30 goals between 60 and 90 minutes respectively. Chelsea gained a massive 19 points from their late game surges. Liverpool gained only one. The Reds just did not seem to be showing that fight towards the end....

The ‘Must Haves’ for Draft Fantasy 2017 – 2018

The weeks pass by, the days drag on, and we get ever closer to our date with destiny, Saturday August 12th. The day we’ve all been waiting for, the day where our fantasy football brains switch back on and the trials and tribulations of fantasy football return to our lives for yet another season. However, as a Draft Fantasy Football veteran myself, I know as well as anyone that many of you will already be putting your lists together of ‘must haves’ for the forthcoming campaign. Kane or Costa? Sanchez or Sane? Welbeck or Walcott? (Maybe not.) The options...
