The Premier League returned this week, marking the end of a torrid three months for Draft Fantasy managers.

No longer do fantasy premier league players have to put up with Saturday trips to Ikea or impeding Love Island marathons, instead returning to the warm familiarity of a weekend of football on the telly.

The season certainly got off to a bang as Arsenal and Leicester played out a thrilling game on Friday evening, with the Gunners mounting a late comeback to come out with a 4-3 win.

The excitement didn’t stop there however as Liverpool and Watford played out an exciting 3-3 draw, Chelsea suffered a shock 3-2 loss at home to Burnley while Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur got themselves off the mark with comfortable wins.

The results are secondary to the majority of draft managers however, with the most important currency being the points their players scored and scouting potential winners from the weekends matches.

With the majority of renowned points scorers snapped up in early rounds of the draft, finding the hidden gems about to hit form is all the more important. Here are five players who could score big points over the next few weeks.

Steve Mounie

It wouldn’t be an opening weekend without an unknown striker turning in an impressive performance and earning cult status among FPL managers.

Huddersfield got off to a surprise 3-0 win against Crystal Palace in their first ever Premier League game, with new signing Steve Mounie bagging an impressive brace and scoring 12 points in the process.

The Benin international took both of his goals well and showed great anticipation to steal in behind the Eagles’ defence and finish with aplomb.

Mounie looks to be the main outlet in a Huddersfield side not afraid to attack and will be the top target for any manager needing a striker. Make sure you get him first.

Robbie Brady

Robbie Brady has long threatened to be a great fantasy prospect but has always been unlucky in one way or another.

The Irishman started the 2013/14 in fine form by bagging three goals before a groin injury kept him out for the majority of the season.

Last term he managed a goals and three assists in the second half of the season despite being rotated.

This year he appears to have nailed the place on the left wing for Sean Dyche’s side and looks likely to be on set-pieces. He managed four shots (two inside the area and two outside the box) while also delivering an impressive three key passes against the champions.

Kyle Walker-Peters

One Kyle Walker departs, another Kyle Walker steps up in his place.

Well, not quite. But the similarities between Kyle Walker-Peters and the departed England right-back are remarkably similar.

Both are extremely quick and love to get forward – something that Walker-Peters will be given license to do in Mauricio Pochettino’s system.

While he is unlikely to be first-choice for the season, Walker-Peters may well benefit in Kieran Trippier’s absence over the next few weeks and pick up plenty of clean sheet points.

Aaron Ramsey

While it’s unlikely a player of Aaron Ramsey’s calibre will be free in many drafts, there is a chance that managers will have knee-jerked and transferred the Arsenal midfielder out after he missed the Community Shield win over Chelsea.

Despite starting on the bench, the Welshman came on and scored the equaliser, scoring a surprise six points in the process.

Even more impressive was that he managed three attempts inside the box in just 26 minutes and if he stays fit will surely thrive as the box-to-box man in Arsene Wenger’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

Leroy Fer

Swansea City fans will most likely be wondering how they came away with a point in their 0-0 draw against Southampton.

The Welsh side managed only 40% of possession and had their backs to the wall for most of the game and were unable to get forward, meaning players like Leroy For didn’t get much of look-in.

With Gylfi Sigurdsson set to depart however, the Dutchman will be vying with the likes of Tom Carroll for the number 10 spot.

Having previously managed six goals in seasons with both Swansea and QPR, it will be interesting to see if Fer can set a new record in a more advanced position.
