Romelu Lukaku – Manchester United

Manchester United courted Morata the entire summer only to pull the plug on the deal at the last moment, to sign Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. So far, so good.

Lukaku has six goals in the Premier League so far and all the six have come from inside the box. 14 of his shots have been on target, which is the highest amongst England’s top flight forwards this season.

He also seems very adept at creating chances for his teammates. He has created 10 big chances this season, which is the again the best amongst the current crop of strikers in the Premier League. Next up is Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. Time for a rout.

Harry Kane – Tottenham

Harry Kane is on four goals this season, or shall we say four goals this season from September. The fact that he was off work in August makes this number all the more impressive.

When people said he was a one season wonder, he picked up back to back Premier League Golden boots. And when they said he has to score in Europe, he laid Borussia Dortmund and APOEL Nicosia to the sword.

Now, understandably, they are running out of ways to laud him.

Such has been his brilliance. Kane has had 39 attempts at goal so far, of which nine have been headed attempts. Both league-high numbers. Fresh from his hat-trick against APOEL, expect Kane to give a rude awakening to the Huddersfield dream so far.

Eric Choupo Moting – Stoke City

Stoke have so far scored five goals this season. Two of them have come from their free signing, Eric Choupo Moting. That he is standing out in a Stoke side with all their exotic talents speaks volumes of his abilities.

His ability in the air looks to be his making, evidenced by the two goals he scored against Manchester United. He has had the second most attempts from set-pieces amongst Midfielders and has also had 19 attempts at goal.

A true live wire. Southampton at the Britannia shouldn’t be the most difficult job in the world and lot of hopes will be pinned on the Cameroon international.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool

“We are an offensive-oriented team but this is about Champions League football – we need results, the balance has to be right”, said Jurgen Klopp ahead of the game against Spartak Moscow.

He then went on to start Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah.

It was unfortunate they didn’t fire against the Russians. Newcastle is up next and maybe they would bear the full wrath of the quartet. One of the important parts of that wheel is Mohamed Salah.

So far, Salah has had 23 attempts at goal of which 20 have come from inside the box. He has an attempt at goal every 19 minutes, which is quite insane. Unsurprisingly, he leads the Liverpool scoring charts.

Coutinho is only going to make him look better.

Nacho Monreal – Arsenal

Since Arsene Wenger’s experiments with a back three began, Monreal has been his most important asset. Capable of playing as a left wing-back as well as centre back, the Spaniard is giving one less headache to his much-beleaguered manager.

He has made the most tackles(24) and has won 19 of them. He has also made the most number of interceptions in the Premier League this season.

If Monreal the defensive cover looks good, Monreal the attacking outlet is better. He has had a 94% and 89% pass completion rate in the opposition half and final third respectively. Brighton at the Emirates should be a breeze.
