Players score points for your fantasy football team based on their real life Premier League performances.

Using the default scoring option, players score points as listed below:

Action Points
For playing up to 60 minutes 1
For playing 60 minutes or more (excluding injury time) 2
For each goal scored by a goalkeeper or defender 6
For each goal scored by a midfielder 5
For each goal scored by a forward 4
For each goal assist 3
For a clean sheet by a goalkeeper or defender 4
For a clean sheet by a midfielder 1
For every 3 shot saves by a goalkeeper 1
For each penalty save 5
For each penalty miss -2
For every 2 goals conceded by a goalkeeper or defender -1
For each yellow card -1
For each red card -3
For each own goal -2

Clean Sheets

A clean sheet is awarded for not conceding a goal while on the pitch and playing at least 60 minutes (excluding injury time). If a player has been substituted when a goal is conceded, this will not affect any clean sheet bonus. Players that have been sent off will be affected.

Red Cards

Red card deductions include any points deducted for yellow cards. Players will continue to lose points for goals conceded after they have been sent off.

Assists

Assists are awarded to the player from the goal scoring team, who makes the final pass before a goal is scored. An assist is awarded whether the pass was intentional or unintentional. Intentional means the pass actually created the chance. Unintentional means the player had to dribble the ball or that an inadvertent touch or shot created the chance.

If an opposing player significantly alters the intended destination of the ball after the final pass before a goal is scored, no assist is awarded.

Rebounds

If a shot on goal is blocked by an opposing player and is saved by a goalkeeper or hits the woodwork, and a goal is scored from the rebound, then an assist is awarded.

Own Goals

If a player shoots or passes the ball and forces an opposing player to put the ball in his own net, an assist is awarded.

Penalties and Free-Kicks (for Premier League only)

In the event of a penalty or free-kick, the player earning the penalty or free-kick is awarded an assist if a goal is directly scored. However, if the player takes the penalty or free-kick himself and scores, no assist is given.

Customised Scoring Options

We now offer fully customisable scoring options in addiiton to the two options we’ve offered in the past [Kante Rule/ TI and Bonus Points (BPS)] for customised scoring. Your league creator can choose to use both, only one, neither of them, or change any scoring option for any position when creating the league execept for in Draft Fantasy World Cup 2018:

Fully Customisable Scoring Feature

If you’d like to adjust the scoring settings, this is now possible with our fully customisable scoring feature. This feature is only available for premium leagues.

To do this, the league admin/creator should visit the league settings page and click “Edit Scoring” (other league members will be able to click “View Scoring,” but will not be able to make any permanent changes themselves). You will be taken to a new page where you can adjust the scoring for your league. To view the changes, click “View Changes” and the player table below will update based on your scoring preference. To make these changes permanent, click “Update League”.

One example of using this feature is turning on Kante points for defenders. To do this you would change the points earned by a defender from 0 to 1 for the field “Every 2 tackles/interceptions”.

Each field is per single event unless otherwise stated. For example, the “minute played” field is set to 0 by default. If you would set this to 1, then a player would score 1 point for each minute he plays. Additionally he would earn points for the 60 minutes played setting unless that is set to 0.

A player can earn multiple points in multiple categories with one action. For example, if you put 1 point for every save and 1 point for every 3 saves then if a goalkeeper makes 3 saves, he will earn 4 points (1 point for every save, plus a 1 point for making a set of 3 saves).

Changes to custom scoring can be made as long as the first gameweek for the league has not yet started. The Kante Rule and Bonus points league setting will be switched OFF and ignored if you use custom scoring for your league.

The Kante Rule / TI (Tackles AND Interceptions)

If the league uses this rule, forwards and midfielders receive:

1 bonus point for every combination of 2 tackles won and/ or interceptions the player makes in a match. For example if a player makes 3 tackles and 2 interceptions in game, they will score 2 Kante points. In the 2017-18 1 point was given for every 3 tackles and interceptions. For 2018-19 we have changed this to 2.

For more information see the Tackles and Interception sections on the Opta Events Page. We do not count tackles where the opponent retains possession. The ball going out of play is considered a successful tackle.

Bonus Points (for Premier League only)

There is a range of statistics to create each player’s Bonus Point Score (BPS). The three highest scoring performing players for BPS in each match will be awarded bonus points.

3 bonus points are awarded to the highest scoring BPS player, 2 bonus points to the second highest scoring BPS player and 1 bonus point to the third highest.

In the event of a tie more than three players may be awarded bonus points as follows:

  • If there is a tie for first place, Players 1 & 2 will receive 3 bonus points each and Player 3 will receive 1 bonus point.
  • If there is a tie for second place, Player 1 will receive 3 bonus points and Players 2 and 3 will receive 2 bonus points each.
  • If there is a tie for third place, Player 1 will receive 3 bonus points, Player 2 will receive 2 bonus points and Players 3 & 4 will receive 1 bonus point each.

Our BPS system is similar to the Fantasy Premier League game, but not identical.

FAQ

Does your game use captains?

We don’t. This would give the managers with the first draft picks too much of an advantage.

Why aren’t the points on Draft Fantasy the same as the Premier League website?

There are a few possible explanations for this as explained below:

We get our stats from Opta and they often update their stats with corrections. There are times when the Premier League does not make use of the corrections whereas we do.

Another reason the points may differ is due to how tackles are counted. We only count tackles where the player regains possession for his team. If the tackle is made, but the opposition team still has possession after the original player is dispossessed, this is not counted as a successful tackle in our game.

Lastly, if your league uses bonus points, we do not count match winning goals for BPS calculations whereas Fantasy Premier League does. This means goal scorers will score slightly less BPS points which will mean slightly fewer bonus points.
