Manchester City are entering the season as one of the favourites for the league title and Pep Guardiola will be keen to prove doubters wrong by finishing top of the pile.
It was always going to be a difficult job for the Spaniard at the Etihad Stadium, as he inherited an ageing squad that needed to be refreshed with younger stars.

One player that impressed during the second half of last season was German winger Leroy Sane and he is likely to be even better in the coming campaign.
There are a number of midfield options available to Guardiola and rotation is likely as they attempt to compete on multiple fronts.
However, Leroy Sane is clearly highly-rated by his manager and it is likely that he will be a regular on the left wing in the Premier League.
His pace and willingness to run at opposition defenders is perfect for the style of play that the City boss is trying to implement.
Meanwhile, his endeavour when his team doesn’t have the ball will have won the trust of the manager, as Guardiola demands that from every player on the pitch.
Why is Leroy Sane a good option in Draft Fantasy?
After a slow start to his career in England, Sane emerged as a key player for Manchester City after the turn of the year. He ended the season with 26 Premier League appearances, the majority of which came as a starter.
Rotation means that he won’t play every game this season, but considering the make-up of the squad, he is likely to be the regular starter on the left wing.
During the 2016/17 campaign, he contributed five goals and three assists, which saw him end the season with 105 points in the game.
He ranked as the fourth best midfielder at his club, but the arrival of Bernardo Silva hurts two of the players that finished above him.
The new signing likes to play in a central role or as a right winger, which means that he is more likely to take minutes away from Raheem Sterling and David Silva, rather than Sane.
This means that Sane starts the season as one of the best midfield options at the club as he appears to be guaranteed regular minutes on the pitch.
His directness caused problems for opposition teams last season, but his decision making let him down at times.
This is his second season in the league and he will be a better for the experience that he has already collected. If he continues to progress, he has a great chance of finishing the season as one of the top ten midfielders in the game.
Where should he be in your list of priorities?
Despite the undoubted value that he offers in the draft, Sane remains too inconsistent to be considered as a first midfielder for your team.
The likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Dele Alli and Alexis Sanchez are all in a class above the German. However, as a second midfielder, he could be a great draft pick and add goal threat to your team.
The best strategy on draft day is to select proven quantities in the game alongside some gambles that could develop quickly during the opening months of the season.
Sane certainly fits the second description. He will be playing regularly in a Pep Guardiola side and City will have one of the best attacks in the league.
The 21-year-old will get on the ball in the final third and be playing alongside players that will both create chances for him and finish those that he makes.
He should significantly improve his contribution in the final third this season if he is the first-choice on the left and, at the time of writing, that looks to be the case.
Therefore, Sane has huge potential in the game and as a second midfielder, he could be a great early pick-up in the draft.
