GAMEWEEK 2 REVIEW – PART TWO

Southampton 3 – West Ham 2 This was a surprisingly dangerous display from the West Ham attack, and also a surprisingly incompetent display from Southampton’s defense. After the south coast side’s solid defensive performance in the 0-0 draw in game week 1, I would have put a hefty bet on the Saints to keep out 10 man West Ham after going 2-0 up. Instead their defensive frailties without cornerstone Van Dijk were exploited by the lethal Javier Hernandez, who scored a brace to get his first goals in a Hammers shirt. On the other end of the pitch Southampton...

Gameweek 2 Review – Part One

Gameweek 2 came around in the blink of an eye, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Several new draft fantasy prospects are now firmly on our radars, with waivers and transfers flying around in every league. Today we take an in-depth look at Gameweek 2, how are fantasy prospects fared, and which players to look out for in the coming weeks. Swansea 0 – Manchester United 4 The Manchester United bandwagon continued to roll with another impressive 4 – 0 victory over Swansea. United did not have it all their own way in the first half, but once they moved...

Wishing that I was Jesé’s Fantasy Owner? Not Just Yet

Stoke City’s latest Champions League winner, following in the footsteps of Ibrahim Afellay, Xerdan Shaqiri (16%), and others, is former Real-Madridista and on-loan Paris Saint-Germain man Jesé Rodríguez Ruiz. You can just call him Jesé, for short. And remember the name, because Jesé was the hero in Stoke’s 1-0 win over Arsenal. The forward delivered a clinical finish past Petr Cech from Saido Berahino’s  (7% owned) offering to secure the win before being subbed off, presumably for fitness reasons. Jesé has only just signed for Stoke this week, which means that he is 100% available on the waiver wire...

Sigurdsson’s Replacement

As a Swansea fan, a little piece of me died when I saw the words “Sigurdsson left out of Swansea squad” for the match against Southampton. This is because it means he will probably leave, despite rumours a deal had collapsed. And for the unlucky fantasy managers who picked him up in their draft, the question is, “Should I keep him?”, as he may flop at Everton. But for most of us, we must ask who will play for Swansea in his place. We must also assess whether they are worth picking up. Below is a list of four players...

5 Players to Look for on the Fantasy Waivers

The Premier League returned this week, marking the end of a torrid three months for Draft Fantasy managers. No longer do fantasy premier league players have to put up with Saturday trips to Ikea or impeding Love Island marathons, instead returning to the warm familiarity of a weekend of football on the telly. The season certainly got off to a bang as Arsenal and Leicester played out a thrilling game on Friday evening, with the Gunners mounting a late comeback to come out with a 4-3 win. The excitement didn’t stop there however as Liverpool and Watford played out...

The Story of a Man Named Brady (for Burnley)

Robbie Brady, MID It’s been over a year since Robbie Brady scored to give Ireland a memorable win over Italy in Euro 2016. His well-taken goal that Summer was in many ways, his world introduction to the story of a man named Brady. As Brady begins his first full season at Burnley, having signed last Winter from Norwich in a return to Premiere League Football, fantasy managers should expect more magic from the Irishman. Call it much more than a hunch. Having played 90 minutes in the opener, a 3-2 win against Champions Chelsea, Brady’s creative play from midfield...

Gameweek 1 Review – Part 1

And breathe… It was manic, unpredictable and, most importantly, packed full of draft fantasy football twists and turns. As the dust settles on the first gameweek of the season, we take a look back at each of the fixtures. The standout performers, the disappointments, and the ones to keep a close eye on. Liverpool 3 – Watford 3 What a game! Last season Liverpool built up a reputation as prolific scorers but shocking at the back. And from the looks of their first game of the season, not a lot has changed. Liverpool were tantalising in front of goal,...

Gameweek 1 Review- Part 2

Chelsea 2 – Burnley 3 What a roller coaster of a game this was. The champions going 3-0 down on the first day of the new season, with media chaos ensuing. Words including “crisis” and “meltdown” have been thrown about when describing the London club. I would not be so quick to write Chelsea off though. Ultimately they did play 67 minutes of the game with 10 men and then a further 10 minutes with 9 men. Despite this they managed to stage an attempt at a comeback and were actually unlucky not to nick an equaliser. It must...

Draft Fantasy Points Updates

We’ve had a lot of questions about points this week, so here’s a quick update explaining it all. We get our data from Opta. Opta occasionally make corrections and this then affects fantasy player points. This happened a few times this weekend and is also the reason that our points may not fully match those of other fantasy football games. We use the corrections and some other games don’t. Moving forward we will be setting an earlier cutoff date for points updates to avoid this confusion. This weekend one change that happened was Lloris being changed from 3 saves...
