Whilst some fade and never live up to the hype they generate in meaningless friendlies, others show signs of becoming first team stars.
Here are three of the biggest stars of pre-season so far…
Michy Batshuayi – Chelsea
The Belgian barely figured in his first season at Stamford Bridge, but has been in sensational form in pre-season with three goals in as many games.
When given opportunities last season, he often impressed, but until now he is yet to be trusted with a regular first team spot.
Don’t be put off by the arrival of Alvaro Morata either. The pair have shown signs of building a formidable partnership, with the Spaniard assisting Batshuayi’s goal against Bayern Munich.
Antonio Conte even shifted Morata to the left against Inter Milan, perhaps showing just how important Batshuayi could become to his side.
Reiss Nelson – Arsenal
The 17-year-old has been the star of Arsenal’s pre-season and joins the likes of Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses in being an attacking wing-back who has the potential to earn huge points for your Draft Fantasy side.
That’s the case given that he usually plays further forward, but has been fielded at wing-back in pre-season.
His impressive displays on tour in Australia and China have earned him a shot in the Emirates Cup, impressing against Benfica.
It is unlikely that he will become a first team contender just yet, but he could be a good surprise package to have in reserve.
Davy Klaassen – Everton
One of Everton’s big summer signings, Klaassen has impressed since making the move from Ajax.
His display in the Toffee’s first Europa League qualifier also went to show just how he led his former team to the final last season before they were beaten by Manchester United.

His creativity and vision has been a joy to behold at times, and it’s clear that he will create and score goals this season.
Everton are still building a team but with Sandro and Wayne Rooney there to finish off moves that the Dutchman starts, he could be a high earner this season.
