It is the final weekend of Premier League action before the international break – cue the sarcastic cheers – which means that it’s the last chance to make an impression with your Draft Fantasy side.
And whilst it’s been the summer arrivals that have been taking the top-flight by storm in terms of attackers, this weekend’s fixture list perhaps lends itself much better to a more experienced option.
Swansea City’s trip to the London Stadium on Saturday to face West Ham might not be the fixture that leaps off the pages but it represents the opportunity to take a punt on an England international.
It is little coincidence that West Ham’s slight rejuvenation has come since Andy Carroll returned to the first-team, beating Huddersfield, earning a credible point away at West Brom and coming agonisingly close to a remarkable late comeback in the London derby with Tottenham last time out.
Whilst he’s yet to trouble the scoresheets this season, his mere presence has been a catalyst for a small turnaround in results in London and he’ll back himself to get off the mark against the Swans.
Heading into the clash he has a mightily impressive recent record against Paul Clement’s side, being directly involved in eight goals in his past six games against the Welsh outfit (scoring five times, assisting three) with six coming at home, and he knows how to be successful against their back-line.
Consider the fact that Swansea have also conceded the most shots on goal in the opening six matches of the season, facing 72 shots so far, and Carroll will go into Saturday ready to fill his boots.
The 28-year-old will no doubt carry his customary threat in the air – a threat that has seen him victorious with 26 of his 36 headed duels – and the visitors will need to be wise to his influence.
Most eyes this weekend will no doubt be trained on the battle between Gabriel Jesus and Alvaro Morata at the top of the table, but the real opportunity to score some Draft Fantasy points over the weekend – and for a largely unselected player – comes for West Ham a short way across the capital.
