With GW37 having 10 teams with a pair of games I am going to switch things up a little bit. I am a firm believer in these situations that you should stack your lineup to the max so instead of doing the usual individual game previews I am going to focus on those 10 teams, looking at their opponents and the fantasy potential of each one. And for those that can’t fill their lineup with DGWers then there will be a small section on the best SGWers to consider. Here we go, 2 weeks left for Premier League Fantasy Football managers to take their title!


DGWs:

Chelsea [vs WBA(A), WAT(H)]

I am glad the soon to be Champions have a DGW so I could use the header photo above just so you could see what Costa would look like with Luiz’s hair! Jokes aside, Chelsea players would normally be great selections but there is a risk for rotation for that plum second home matchup if they do lock up the title on Friday vs West Brom. But with that said I think it is still a no-brainier to roll out your Blues, maybe the stubborn Baggies will do us all a favor? By now you know the lineup, with the only question being whether Fabregas holds his spot if Kanté returns, he sure deserves it.

Man City [vs LEI(H), WBA(H)]

City definitely have the best matchups, both at home to teams with little to play for, while they themselves are pushing hard for the highest finish possible. Offensively they are led by De Bruyne, Sané, Jesus, Silva and Sterling. All are great plays especially if Agüero remains out. Speaking of that, Touré could hold value in that scenario if he is the pk-taker. Fernandinho seems to be a Pep favorite and you never know, he could get you 6 points from a pair of midfield clean sheets, you’d take that, right? Caballero is locked in but the defense is a little trickier to predict although Kompany, Otamendi and Clichy seem preferred.


Tottenham [vs MUN(H), LEI(A)]

That Spurs defeat to West Ham sealed their fate a little sooner than expected but I think Pochettino will want to finish strong so your stars should be safe. On defense, the Walker/Trippier situation is troubling plus Rose may be ready for some action so Davies’ place may become in jeopardy too. Alderweireld and Vertonghen are the best options. The matchups aren’t stellar and there could be a feeling of letdown around the squad but they have produced most of the season so best to keep the faith.

Arsenal [vs STO(A), SUN(H)]

The Gunners have another DGW and they could produce again with these two matchups as they have plenty to play for in the search for a top 4 spot. The preferred attack has been Sánchez, Özil and Welbeck with Gibbs and Oxlade-Chamberlain as the wing backs but the Ox left their last game so Bellerin could become useful again. Ramsey and Xhaka are holding down the centre mid with Ramsey the one pushing further forward of the pair. On defense Mustafi, Holding and Monreal should continue with the only change coming if Koscielny returns in which case either Holding drops out or Monreal is pushed into Gibbs’ spot but I would think the first situation is more likely. Cech is naturally a good play as Stoke are not an offensive juggernaut despite being at home and the Sunderland game looks like a clean sheet.

Man Utd [vs TOT(A), SOT(A)]

After the loss to Arsenal it became pretty clear that Utd have no choice but to focus solely on the Europa League to get a Champion’s League spot for next season. The players will still need some minutes to stay sharp but it is unlikely that the big names with start both, probably more likely a stronger side for the second game. So which Utd players are likely to get the most of the action? De Gea seems to have the PL games and Smalling, Jones and dare I say Tuanzebe should make up a good portion of the backline. In attack Rooney may get both, maybe Martial or Mata but you will need to check their Europa game lineup to get a better idea. Neither matchup is great so not the best DGW to be honest.

Southampton [vs MID(A), MUN(H)]

A decent looking pair of games keeps the Saints defense in our thoughts, points could be there again for Forster, Bertrand, Soares, Yoshida and Stephens. Offensively, Gabbiadini has been a bust recently and his minutes could decrease accordingly. Redmond and Boufal have also been splitting time so Tadic remains the safest pick. Romeu is a two start guy but after that the likes of Ward-Prowse and Davis are probably the ones to get the most minutes.

Leicester [vs MCY(A), TOT(H)]

A really tough DGW for last season’s unlikely Champions does not have me liking the prospects for their defensive options but they do seem like they are intent on trying to finish the season strongly as far as the lineup goes. This means that the attackers like Vardy and Mahrez are decent options, with Albrighton and perhaps Slimani having some kind of impact.

West Brom [vs CHE(H), MCY(A)]

Speaking of tough DGWs, the Baggies have one of their own. First they will try to play spoiler to Chelsea’s title party on Friday, followed up by a trip to City to take on a team with plenty still to play for. Personally I am going to avoid them but for those that do not have better options then the guys with the most upside would be McAuley, Dawson and Róndon scored last game so maybe he could find some form again after his recent struggles.


Watford [vs EVE(A), CHE(A)]

Another unfavorable one, two road games against good teams has Watford’s fantasy potential looking pretty sketchy. Deeney maybe?

Sunderland [vs SWA(H), ARS(A)]

You thought that last one was short, you were wrong. Pickford and Defoe.

SGWs:

Everton [vs WAT(H)]

With elite strikers in high demand Lukaku is still a solid play at home to Watford. To a lesser degree Barkley and Baines could be relied upon. A clean sheet for the Toffees is a distinct possibility.

Bournemouth [vs BUR(H)]

Despite not having their best game at against Stoke, I still fancy Bournemouth at home to Burnley, specifically King as he seems central to all their attacks. Stanislas could be serviceable along with the defense, led by Daniels and Smith.

Crystal Palace [vs Hull(H)]

Palace have a nice home matchup with Hull so Benteke, Zaha and maybe their backline could be worth investing in. The only x-factor is the desperation of Hull.

So that’s where we stand for what is quite possibly going to be a defining GW in your search for Draft Fantasy glory. Double Up, Double Down, Double your Pleasure, whatever you want to call it, do what needs to be done and go all out!
