With the Premier League restarting after the International break, we provide draft managers with five picks that could steal the show this weekend.
Sadio Mane – Liverpool
Mane already has three goals. His shot accuracy of 70% is highest among people to have taken more than five shots.
He has also had 21 touches inside the penalty box, which is higher than his Liverpool counterparts and just behind Kane and Lukaku.
All these point to the fact that Mane is hitting the stride and that is not a good thing for Manchester City.
Kyle Walker’s pace has always saved him from defensive errors. Lets just hope he doesn’t have one of those against Liverpool, as there is no catching the Senegalese international.
Alvaro Morata – Chelsea
New country and new league. No problem. Chelsea’s record signing. No problem. Replacing Diego Costa. No problems.
Alvaro Morata is here to show that he can lead a full fledged title challenge and the initial signs look promising.
He already has two goals and two assists and has created a chance every 37 minutes, which is the best among forwards to have created more than five chances.
The Blues hunted down the foxes last season with an aggregate scoreline of 6-0. Expect another mauling and expect Morata to toy with the ‘confused’ defenders in England.
Dele Alli – Tottenham
Tottenham seem to just not find their wins. In fact, they have somehow contrived to lose points. The goals are not flowing as usual and the Lilywhite’s defence looks vulnerable.
However, one thing that has picked up from where it was left last season is Dele Alli’s form.
The England international has scored two of Spurs’ four goals. He has a 100% ‘big chance’ conversion rate and he has created six chances so far. Only Eriksen has created more in the club’s colours.
Harry Kane and Dele Alli were there on the scoresheet when both these sides met in March, and this could very well be the game when Tottenham push back through the gears.
Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City
Gary Neville has called Gabirle Jesus ‘one of the hungriest players he has ever seen’, and that is exactly what he is.
His movement and willingness to fight for every ball make him an ideal Guardiola forward. That he is able to usurp Aguero’s place in the starting 11 and still not be hated shows the quality he brings to the pitch.
He has one goal so far and it showed the kind of intelligent movement he is capable of. 78% of his successful passes have been in the opposition half.
This shows his willingness to bring others into play. Facing Liverpool is always a daunting task, but the warrior in Jesus might just take them through.
Kyle Naughton – Swansea
Naughton can be this week’s value pick. Paul Clement has shown some inclination towards a three-man backline. That means there is enough license to roam forward for full back Kyle Naughton.
He has one assist to his name already. The return of Wilfried Bony can be a win-win for both the parties involved.
Bony’s aerial prowess can utilise the the crosses that might be delivered from the wing and the movement of Tammy Abraham/ Jordan Ayew make Naughton’s forays forward more dangerous.
