Here were the top ten players in terms of key passes during game week one:

10. Aaron Mooy

The Huddersfield midfielder was excellent during their opening day win over Crystal Palace and was the creative hub of the team, as he was last season. He completed three key passes and managed to get an assist. The Australian could be a good differential play as the season progresses.

9. Ryan Bertrand

It is always good to have a full-back that creates chances, especially if he is part of a good defensive unit too. The England international helped his side to a clean sheet against Swansea City, but he also managed to make four key passes. Southampton look like a team that will create a lot of chances. The doubts lie in their ability to convert them.

8. Patrick van Aanholt

The Dutchman may have played as part of a losing side, but he offered a threat in attack and he could be a great option in Draft Fantasy this season. He is being utilised as a wing-back, which means he has more license to attack. The 26-year-old completed four key passes and attempted three shots on goal. If he isn’t owned in your game, try to pick him up.

7. Oriol Romeu

If you are playing a game that has the ‘Kante rule’, Romeu already offers value for his ability to regain possession. However, he could prove to be a more effective attacking option this season, as he completed five key passes on Saturday. Southampton have a good run of fixtures coming up and he could be a sneaky play in the midfield, for what he offers both in and out of possession.

6. Nathan Redmond

There is a trend emerging from the top ten, as Redmond is the third player from Southampton. It was incredible that the Saints didn’t score on Saturday considering the amount of chances that they created. The 23-year-old made five key passes and attempted four shots at goal. If he starts producing a better final ball, he could easily contribute upwards of seven goals and seven assists. He carries risk, but the rewards are huge if he does improve.

5. Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Manchester United were superb on Sunday and Mkhitaryan delivered one of his best performances in a red shirt. He made five key passes and contributed two assists during the match. The Armenian is threatening to emerge as one of the most creative players in the league this season.

4. Granit Xhaka

This is a surprise entry, but the Swiss international was excellent against Leicester City and he could be a more creative player this season. The change to a 3-4-2-1 formation has given his license to get into advanced positions and he has the ability to impact matches form there with his passing. He made four key passes and grabbed two assists. If he isn’t owned in your game, try to snap him up.

3. David Silva

The Manchester City midfielder ran the show at Brighton, as he completed five key passes and got the assist for the opening goal. He is sporting a new shaved head look, but on the pitch, he remains the magical player that he ever was. Many would have overlooked him when choosing from City’s midfielders, but he will be key to them once again.

2. Cesc Fabregas

The Spaniard was sent off this weekend, but before his exit, he managed to complete five key passes. This is even more impressive when you consider, he was playing in a tam with ten men. He is a reliable midfield option in the game and finish as one of the most creative players once again this season.

1. Mesut Ozil

The Arsenal midfielder had an underwhelming fantasy last season, which made Draft Fantasy players wary of him during the draft. However, he completed six key passes against Leicester City, which was the most of any player during game week one. The German is vital to the Gunners and he could be back to his best this season. If he continues to perform at that level, he will be one of the top five midfielders in the game.
