Manchester City are brushing aside everyone in their path, Tottenham are growing in stature, Leicester City seem to be finding their swag back and Brighton are making a good account of themselves in the Premier League. Players from these teams can be the right lift that every Draft Fantasy manager needs and hence a look at the best picks for this week.
Leroy Sane
“He brought his players to another level”, said Leroy Sane of Pep Guardiola and that is exactly what Pep is doing to Sane.
He has been as unstoppable as his Manchester City team, with three goals and three assists so far this season. Both the highest tallies amongst all Premier League midfielders.
He ranks second amongst midfielders for touches inside the box and leads the same chart for passes received in the final third. ‘Another level’ is probably an understatement.
Jamie Vardy
Jamie Vardy has six goals this season so far, just two behind Sergio Aguero. Only that Vardy plays for a team currently sitting 11th in the table.
Vardy touches the ball every 3.6 minutes while receives a pass every 6.6 minutes. Aguero, on the other hand, touches the ball every 2.2 minutes and receives a pass every 3.3 minutes. In plain words, it’s Vardy being Vardy.
Claude Puel says of his time at Southampton, “We played some good football and there were a lot of chances we created but without a good clinical edge”. Jamie Vardy could be the answer to all those chances created.
Harry Kane
Absence makes the heart grow fonder and goals come rarer. Tottenham Hotspur badly missed the Premier League’s top scorer against West Ham and Manchester United.
Against Real Madrid, Harry Kane and Spurs were back to their best. Kane, in particular, gave another torrid night to Ramos and Company. The Premier league defenders have not been spared either.
He has had the most number of goal attempts and shots from inside the box. He averages a goal every 99 minutes, which is the lowest among forwards with more than 600 minutes under their belt.
The confidence boost from the 3-1 victory over the reigning European champions cannot be overstated. Crystal Palace are in for a mauling.
Jan Vertonghen
Tottenham have conceded just seven goals this season in the Premier League, only Manchester United and Manchester City have conceded fewer.
At the heart of that defense, having played every minute of Spurs’ Premier League campaign is Jan Vertonghen. He has made 13 crucial interceptions and has recovered 65 loose balls. In the ten games that he has played, he has conceded just six fouls.
While Toby Alderweireld deservedly attracts praise, his partner in defense is as good if not better than him.
Pascal Groß
Brighton and Hove Albion sit comfortably at 12th in the Premier League. One of the main reasons for that is their summer signing from FC Ingolstadt 04, Pascal Groß.
He has scored two goals and assisted five so far this season. That is being involved in seven of the ten goals that Brighton have scored. He also creates a chance every 36 minutes.
All these numbers make sense when we realize he topped the charts for chances created in the Bundesliga in the last two seasons. Chris Hughton has unearthed a gem and the gem is proving its worth.
