The most eye-catching match of the weekend will open up proceedings on Saturday as Arsenal meet Tottenham in the first North London derby of the season.

Spurs have emerged as the more successful team during the last two years, but the Gunners will be confident of securing a positive result at home.

This will provide a big indication of which of the two will provide a bigger threat in the Premier League this season.

Here are three to start and three to drop from this fixture:

Three to start

Harry Kane – The striker is expected to start for his club after pulling out of the England squad during the international break. He had been suffering with a minor injury, but he is ready to feature in the North London derby. He has scored in all five of his Premier League appearances against Arsenal and it would take a brave man to back against him continuing that scoring streak. Kane often raises his game in the big matches and he will be the player Arsenal are fearing on Saturday.

Christian Eriksen – The Danish international will be on a high after helping his national team qualify for the World Cup finals next summer. He is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League and he will be keen to maintain the positive momentum that his international success has provided him. His creativity is key to Spurs offering a threat and given the fast pace of this fixture, he will be given opportunities to cut open the Arsenal defence. Although he hasn’t scored or assisted in the Premier League since October, he will be a danger this weekend.

Alexandre Lacazette – It has been a frustrating season for the French striker, as Arsene Wenger has regularly dropped him for the big matches. Against Manchester City, he started on the bench, but managed to come on to score the Gunners’ only goal of the game. With six goals, he is the leading scorer for the club in the Premier League and he will be relishing the chance to make an impact in his first local derby.

Three to drop

Mesut Ozil – The German has been inconsistent this season, with a return of one goal and two assists not being good enough for a player of his ability. In the big matches, he often goes missing and although it is unfair to blame that entirely on him, it is unlikely that he will play a prominent role in determining the result this weekend.

The Arsenal defence – Arsenal have rarely looked a cohesive defensive unit in big matches and the quality of the Tottenham attack means that they are probably going to concede this weekend. Sead Kolasinac is the only option that may appeal, but that is for his attacking qualities rather than what he or the Gunners’ back-line offers in defence.

The Tottenham full-backs – The rotation policy employed by Mauricio Pochettino makes it impossible to own a Tottenham full-back. If you want to gamble, there is a chance that you guess right and earn points as a result, but there are a lot more reliable options in the league that will earn you points on a more regular basis.
