In the mid-nineties, football fans were first introduced to Fantasy Football. Thanks to the popular TV show featuring David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, the concept of becoming a manager of your own club exploded in popularity.
A Football 365 article explains how back in 1994 the show achieved cult status and first delivered fantasy football into people’s heart and homes.
Now, 25 years later, picking a fantasy football team is serious business, with people scouring the form guides to pick the next big sensation who’ll give them the edge over their friends.
So let’s look at the four strikers from the Premier League that really should be in your draft this season.
Sergio Agüero

Agüero may only have scored once in Manchester City’s 5-0 demolition of West Ham on the opening day, but it meant points on the board for yet another season for the Argentinian.
The 31-year-old was scoring in his ninth successive season for City, with only two of those seasons seeing a return of fewer than 20 goals. He’s prolific, reliable and will always be at the top end of the scorer’s charts.
In three further outings in the league, he bagged six goals, giving him a return of seven from just five games. He’s already on course to once again be at the top of the points chart.
Sadio Mane

bwin Football’s ‘Build a Bet Tips’ feature on Liverpool vs. Newcastle details how Sadio Mane has had a strong start to the season with four goals for his club. He’s likely to cost less to draft into your side than Mo Salah, but both men bagged 22 goals in the top flight last season.
The Anfield Wrap suggested he might just be the underrated man in attack for the Reds after helping them to the Champions League trophy last season. With goals already behind him at the beginning of this season, he’s a sure-fire bet to grab points throughout the campaign.
The 27-year-old is always going to benefit from being in a successful and attacking Liverpool side, making him a great viable alternative to some of the bigger names.
Tammy Abraham

An early surprise leader in the leading scorer chart in the Premier League is Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham. He’s been handed a chance courtesy of Chelsea’s transfer ban and has seized his opportunity with both hands.
The 21-year-old has seven in five appearances for the Blues, all of them coming in a three-game burst. With no new arrivals coming into Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, the young England forward is likely to get much more game time.
Harry Kane

England’s current number nine is another who, like Agüero, will always be around the leading scorers in the division. He’s had a quiet start to the season by some of the other’s standards, hitting just three in five.
However, he bagged a hattrick for England against Bulgaria and another in the game against Kosovo proving that he’s back on form after last season’s injury worries.
