I am sure you are used to articles talking about the ‘best’ things. This time, we are doing the opposite, and we have compiled the worst Premier League XI of the season. This list is based on ratings for players who have been in 15 plus EPL games….
Goalie: Jordan Pickford of Everton
Pickford will surprise many people if he is still the number one goalkeeper for the England national team. His league form has been very poor. Pickford has made three great errors which have led to his team conceding.
Right-back: Max Aarons of Norwich
Despite being an excellent young player, Max has been poor in showing why he features in this team. Max makes lesser tackles than any other player in his position bar Kyle Walker. You can say this has only happened because the Walkers team has more possession.
The two Center-backs: Conor Coady of Wolves and Ben Godfrey of Norwich
For Conor Coady, stats don’t favor him. He misses most of the tackling and clearing to his teammates. Although he is a good passing center-half, he has created very few chances this season, lower than any regular starter.
On the other hand, Godfrey has not helped prevent Norwich concede the many goals they’ve conceded this season. Godfrey has started more games compared to other center-halves in his team. He is also the only Norwich player to get a red card.
Left-back: Ryan Bertrand of Southampton
Remember the 9-0 defeat by Leicester? Bertrand was sent off in the 12th minute. Stats show that players dribble past Bertrand than in the past seasons, and he keeps losing the ball. Many will say he is just starting is because he has no competition.
Central midfielders
Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa
Stats can be harsh on Douglas considering he has come off the bench in 8 of the 26 games he has played. However, he has not been good. Compared to his peers, he tackles fewer times and creates lesser chances. Villa has lost five consecutive games in which Douglas has started. This is not a good statistic for a defender.
Harry Winks of Tottenham
Some fans look at Opta when they are comparing players. However, you should know that looking comfortable at the back and intuitions are not measured by Opta. It measures things such as assists, goals, key passes, and tackles. All these have not been impressive on Harry’s part. He is quite average on all.
Attacking midfielders
Jeff Hendrick of Burnley
Although Burnley is not an attacking side and they score few goals, two EPL assists in 24 league matches is a very poor record. The only thing that keeps Jeff on the starting 11 is the fact that Sean Dyche does not like rotating his teams. Compared to his teammate Dwight McNeil on the other side, Jeff continues to disappoint with every game.
Bournemouth’s Harry Wilson
If you look at his goals, you might think that Wilson’s loan spell at Bournemouth has been a success. However, you will be surprised to know he has not recorded even one assist all season, which is awful for a player in his position.
Wilson does not take on defenders and is not good when his team has lost possession. He also loses the ball a lot. Wilson also never completes the full 90 minutes. But this man can hit the ball! However, for an attacking midfielder, this is not enough. Might be the reason he can’t get into the Liverpool team. If you are betting in Casino Games UK, don’t bet on Wilson to make an assist.
Miguel Almiron of Newcastle United
Imagine a player who just runs around a lot, does not create chances or score goals and loses the ball very many times with his poor 1st touch. This is Miguel Almiron. After costing more than£20m, he is doing less to ensure his team will not go down when the season resumes.
Striker
Callum Wilson of Bournemouth
You might be wondering how a player with eight goals makes it to this team. However, apart from the goals, Wilson has not impressed in other areas of his game. For instance, Wilson has not recorded any assist.
Also, he has been booked more times than he has scored. When it comes to losing the ball, only Wilfried Zaha and Joelinton have lost the ball with poor first touch more times than Wilson. Some people might say Wilson is not the worst, but no one can deny he has been very poor.
