Chelsea’s ongoing search for a striker this January could see them complete a move for Roma striker Edin Dzeko. Latest reports from the Daily Mail suggest the London outfit are close to securing the £52 million double signing of the former Manchester City forward and his defensive teammate Emerson Palmieri.

Dzeko has been key for Roma this season, with his goals ensuring the Serie A club remain in the race for Champions League qualification. However, despite his heroics in front of goal, reports suggest Roma would consider an offer from Chelsea too good to refuse for a player turning 32 years of age in March.

The Bosnian international has a remarkable record following his move to Italy. Since his debut for Roma in August 2015, he has been directly involved in 64 top flight goals (46 goals and 18 assists), which is 18 more than any of his current teammates in the Italian capital. This season alone, he has nine goals and three assists in 19 starts.

A double Premier League winner with Manchester City, Dzeko scored 50 goals and contributed a further 11 assists in his 130 league appearances for the Citizens. If you play in a competitive Draft Fantasy league, he should sit at the top of your targets for a late January waiver request.

With the 31-year-old being a proven goal scorer in the English top flight, and still just as productive during his spell away in Italy, he is likely to give a faltering Alvaro Morata stiff competition for a starting spot at Stamford Bridge.
