Teams to target ๐ฏ
Any teams you think managers should look at for the upcoming month (August)
Everton โ pre-season got off to a flyer, with a 22-0 battering of a team that, basically, no-one really heard of. Since then, things have not gone to well for Everton. This could lead a lot of Draft Fantasy players avoiding the blue team from Merseyside. However, looking at their August fixtures (Wolves A, Southampton H, Bournemouth A) they could be a worth a shrewd pick at the correct time in your Draft. Look at targeting their advanced players and full-backs specifically as they could concede goals, but they could notch a few.
Manchester City โ this goes without saying but, after Arsenal in GW1, they play a series of teams that any fantasy manager would call favourable. Consider going in for rotation players in the absence of those who went deep into the WC, and ‘2nd choice’ defenders, as Pep could easily change formation from 3 to 5 at the back from game to game.
Cardiff City โ Being a promoted team and an unknown to most casual managers, Cardiff could be a worthwhile team to look at late in the Draft to get an advantage. August sees them play Bournemouth A, Newcastle H, Huddersfield A, and who’s to say they won’t emulate the latter’s 2017/18 early season performance? Don’t go overboard on players, but 1 advanced player, or either of Patterson/Rolls in Kante point leagues, could help you in those early head to heads.
Trades to look for ๐:
The period between drafting and GW1 is a very short, but unique time. The types of trades that get fired out range from the wonderful to the downright dreadful. Don’t be tempted into accepting any of the later unless you like sending a missile into your title hopes.
However, this is the time to take advantage of any newbies, or anyone who had a woeful few picks, or perhaps a shocking draft altogether.
Look at every team in your league and examine yours carefully. Identify where you are strong and weak and do the same for all teams. Then compose a trade that strengthens your weaknesses and gives the impression that it helps their weaknesses too.
You don’t want to help you opponents too much here, but make sure it is tempting enough for them to bite. Include a player who has tough fixtures around the corner, or a player who is likely to be dropped after the 1st choice player comes back from their WC break. You could also prey on that managers loyalty and offer a player of their club.
If you really want to go to the next level, make this a player who has a tough matchup when you play this manager.
In our league last year Mata got traded for Ramsey. This should never have been accepted, but the manager receiving Mata was a United supporter; he definitely lost that trade.
Mata could once again be a player to use in a similar trade this year. Aurier could be another. He will surely start the 1st few game weeks before Trippier returns. This could lull a casual manager into accepting a trade. Mahrez (Sterling) and whoever Sari plays in Hazards* temporary absence (Community Shield could hold the answer here) are 2 other players to consider.
*depending on whether you believe Hazard gets a transfer to Real Madrid
Kante King of theย Year – 2017/18:
1) ๐ N’Golo Kantรฉ – 92 Interceptions; 82 Tackles โ TI Score: 47
2) Idrissa Gueye โ 67 Interceptions; 93 Tackles โ TI Score 43
3) Wilfed Ndidi โ 56 Interceptions; 95 Tackles โ TI Score 41
