City demolished Arsenal, Man Utd limped past a feisty-looking Wolves side and we were treated to two Champions League winning teams splitting the points in the Saturday tea-time fixture. With just the excitement of transfer deadline day left before the desolate fantasy football wasteland that is an international break, here are my trade tips ahead of the return of the proper action in a fortnights time…
Ones for the waiver…
Chris Wood – The scorer of the premier league’s 30,000th goal, Chris Wood goes straight in to my watchlist. Admittedly a streaky performer points-wise, the Kiwi has a habit of going on a goal-scoring rampage once off the mark and with 7 shots so far this season, a decent fixture list attacking-wise in the near-term and buoyed by some cracking work in the transfer market in signing winger Maxwell Cornet, I’m tipping the Kiwi’s latest run of form to have just kicked off.
Kieran Tierney – I know, I know. Arsenal. But hear me out. For those that have put themselves through watching Arsenal’s first three fixtures, many would have noticed a couple of bright sparks amidst the dying embers of a once-invincible premier league team. Whilst Emile Smith-Rowe has undoubtedly looked a class-act in midfield, it’s Arsenal’s left back that has once again looked the most likely source of goals and his 7 key passes (4th in the defender ranks) backs that up. With possibly the kindest fixture run in the league on the horizon, surely Tierney will help give Arsenal fans something more to cheer about?
Trincao – This could have easily been Crystal Palaces long-lost 4th Hanson brother, Conor Gallagher, following a brace and impressive performance at the weekend, but with Spurs and Liverpool up next, I’m instead going to turn my attention to yet another Wolves player who continues to (finishing aside) pass the eye test. It’s hard to look past last week’s pick in Adama Traore (quite literally), but it was his teammate, Trincao, that caught my eye in the controversial 1-0 loss to Man Utd on the weekend. 5th in the entire league in the shots on target table, I’m tipping the Barcelona loanee to turn shots into goals sooner, rather than later.
That’s all for this week folks, happy International break!
