Since arriving from Southampton during last summer’s transfer window there’s little doubt that Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is one of the best roaming midfielders in the Premier League.

His partnership with Mousa Dembele at the heart of the Spurs midfield has been one of the main reasons as to why they’ve challenged so closely for the title in recent years, carrying huge discipline.

Although Wanyama has been undeniably impressive on the pitch, the nature of his holding role hasn’t exactly made him the first port-of-call for Draft Fantasy Football managers in recent seasons.

This can all change now, however, due to the introduction of the ‘Kante Rule’, which finally sees the likes of Wanyama rewarded for their natural tackling, intercepting and recovering ability in midfield.

His huge physical presence, added to his quick acceleration off the mark and the immense upper body strength that he possesses, all-but guarantees that he’ll benefit points-wise from this rule this season.

Last year alone he made 37 interceptions and 73 clearances, having a huge influence on breaking up opposition play in the middle third, and he managed to win 63 tackles at a success rate (36%) that was only narrowly lower than N’Golo Kante’s (41%), proving that Wanyama is up there with the very best.

Even aside from the ‘Kante Rule’, the Kenyan could be deemed a respectable pick, scoring four goals and assisting once last season, and you can count on him to find the back of the net regularly once again.

With Tottenham taking their time in the transfer market it is unlikely that anybody will come in to challenge Wanyama’s role, meaning that – bar injury or squad rotation – the 26-year-old could match his tally of 36 Premier League appearances from last year, securing points on a weekly basis.
