We’re back! Drafts aplenty, fantasy team tinkering and an absolute rollercoaster of emotions for Kane drafters across the land, we’re here to give you some food for thought on some low owned options that should still be available in the majority of leagues. Best of luck in Gameweek 1 everyone. Let’s get the drama under way!

Carney Chukwuemeka

With Chelsea fans having to wait a further 3 to 4 months for Christopher Nkunku to make his Premier League debut, there is a vacant space behind Nicolas Jackson for an attacking midfielder to stake their claim for a place in the starting 11. I’m tipping Carney Chukwuemeka to take the spot. Whilst Sterling could play more freely and Ian Maatsen be brought in (another one to keep an eye on), it was Chukwuemeka who Pochettino turned to in the most recent friendlies and looks most likely to get the nod in this weekend’s showdown with Liverpool.

Ashley Young

Amidst the bigger names circling the rumour mill, Ashley Young’s transfer to Goodison Park may have gone under the radar for many, but his track record in the premier league and prospects under a Sean Dyche team that’s likely to focus on suring things up at the back adds promise for the premier league veteran. Add the possibility of playing out of position on the left of midfield, some decent early fixtures and the potential to be on set pieces and there’s a lot to like here.

Elliot Anderson

It’s to be seen if the Toon Army’s very own teenage prodigy can force his way into a starting 11 flushed with great options in attack and increasingly good depth, but his preseason heroics will have done his chances no harm. Not a stranger to looking to youth and academy prospects, Howe will have a decision to make on how (sigh…) and when exactly to deploy such a talented footballer, but as we have seen to date, Anderson doesn’t necessarily need all that many minutes to make his mark. One to watch for sure.

Lucas Paqueta

Schroedingers midfielder may very well be at City or West Ham as the season starts and at the time of reading this, but in either instance, Paqueta looks to be a good option for our squads. A thoroughly enjoyable footballer to watch, Paqueta increased his attacking returns towards the tail end of last season and if West Ham are to improve upon a near desperate scrabble for bottom half obscurity, they will need Paqueta to be fit and firing once again. Should the Brazilian be at Manchester City, there’s no knowing what may come of operating alongside similarly silky talent. Stay tuned into the transfer news!

Odsanne Edouard

I can see Edouard being this seasons Doucoure, permanently on rotation between squads and the waiver pile. With some decent performances in preseason under his belt and with a first fixture at home to newly promoted Sheffield United, I can see Edouard spoiling the party for the Blades and bagging some returns. In a season particularly miserly on starting forwards, you could do far worse than having Palaces leading man as your 3rd striker. Consider picking up if you have rotation risks in your frontline.

That will do it for this week. Enjoy the return of the Premier League and the return of fantasy football!
