Harry Kane – Tottenham

He started the week at 99 goals and midway through the week, he is at 103, with the four goals coming against Everton, perennial top six contenders, and Borussia Dortmund, perennial dark horses.

Kane has, so far, had 99 touches in the final third, of which 33 have been inside the penalty area. These 33 touches have led to 21 shots.

These are league high numbers for forwards in the Premier League. Swansea cannot play Tottenham and Kane at a more inopportune moment.

That conversion from touches to shots would make any businessman proud.

Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City

“Too many times you see people cross and aim for an area or zone in the box, but De Bruyne has got the quality and precision to pick people out”, said Gary Neville of De Bruyne.

That seems as fair an assessment as one could give. It was a terrifying yet composed performance from the Belgian against Liverpool and the Reds are supposed to be good at stifling opponents.

De Bruyne has had 192 touches of the ball in the final third, which is the most by any midfielder this season.

While all the talk has been about Jesus and Aguero forming a lethal frontline, it is De Bruyne who is pulling the strings from behind and he seems pretty good at that.

Alvaro Morata – Chelsea

Morata has three goals and two assists to his name so far this season, and has therefore been involved in more than 60% of Chelsea’s successful efforts in the final third.

He has had six headed attempts so far and three of them have yielded goals. His ICT index of 45 is the third best overall. All this without Hazard alongside him.

That Antonio Conte chose to rest him against Qarabag shows the high regard the manager has for him.

It is Diego Costa’s off field antics that is keeping him in the Blues’ supporters thoughts, because their new No 9 looks more than capable of replacing him.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool

Klopp wanted to add pace to his frontline and he couldn’t have got a better deal in this respect.

Mohamed Salah has become synonymous with pace and Liverpool have used his pace well this, launching balls behind the opposition defence and letting Salah do the rest. However, there is more to the Egyptian than raw pace.

Nine of his 13 attempts at goal have been on target. He has also had the most attempts from inside the box and has had 22 touches inside the area, which is just two shy of the leader, Mane.

Burnley would do well to play deep and avoid Salah the space to run onto. Any space afforded would be exploited without mercy by Salah and co.

Josh King – Bournemouth

Josh King was the surprise package of last season, scoring 16 goals and providing two assists. He turned a lot of heads, but has remained at the Vitality Stadium.

His loyalty has been rewarded with more playing time, with King playing full 90 minutes in each of Bournemouth’s four games this season.

He has performed the most dribbles this season among forwards. He leads the forward’s table for successful take-ons (11) and comes a close second for attempted take-ons.

With Bournemouth facing a fifth straight defeat, they need their King more than ever.
